I am 41 years old and I have Type 3 OI, I have been a member of the BBS since I was 18 months old when my parents saw an article in a magazine and became members straightaway. Since then over the years the society has supported my family and I both emotionally and also providing me with essential equipment. We have seen the society grow into the success that it is today and being a trustee gives me the opportunity to give something back and help other families in the same situation.

I have worked for HMRC for over 20 years so I know the importance of diplomacy and confidentiality.

I have lots of experience with departments such Access to Work etc, which has enabled me to stay in permanent employment over the years.

I was part of the original group that started VOICE weekends for younger members for ages 16 to 30. Back in 2009 at the AGM a group of us decided that there was a big need to have a separate weekend for the younger people with OI. In 2010 VOICE held its first weekend and is now one of the BBS’s success stories and is a permanent annual event in the BBS calendar.
