Conference and AGM
The Brittle Bone Society's Annual Conference & AGM is the only conference in the UK exclusively for those living with Osteogenesis Imperfecta. This is the biggest event in the BBS Calendar typically attracting around 170 delegates from all over the UK & ROI during the course of the three day weekend. An event not to be missed!
Whether you are an individual interested in learning more about your condition; a family wanting to connect with other parents who understand your situation or a child simply looking to make some new friends who fully understand what it's like to grow up with OI - there is something for everyone at the BBS Conference.
Brittle Bone Society Charity Trustees and staff are thrilled to host our Annual Conference and Exhibition in 2018 in Dundee 17th to 20th August at the Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa.

On the occasion of our 50th Anniversary, we will launch our History Bones Exhibition which we are working on with the University of Dundee, celebrating the work of the Brittle Bone Society which supports people with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI).
We also plan to publish a unique and invaluable online resource - containing film clips, oral recordings, photos, testimonies, examples of disability aids and equipment and much more.
Friday 17th August shall herald the beginning of the weekend of events with a welcome event and International Scientific Symposium for healthcare professionals, followed by a fun filled entertainment programme launching our Historical exhibition bringing families and medics together at the Apex Hotel.
Saturday 18th August will play host to our conference talks, workshops and consultation events and features our annual Gala Dinner and awards ceremony with special entertainment.
Plans for speakers and content of this year’s special conference programme are almost complete which will include delegates from across UK, Europe and USA to exchange the latest developments in the care and management of OI.
PPI workshops canvassing the input of people with OI will feature strongly in the weekend’s activity across a wide range of topics, helping us shape our future plans in events activity, policy and research.
Sunday 19th August we will welcome OIFE delegates for their business meetings and their formal presentation dinner. Throughout the day our Charity will be hosting consultation meetings with our own members.
Expect some special Scottish hospitality with a little bit of tartan thrown in! The Trustees want to welcome friends to Scotland for the first time in 10 years. So get saving the pennies! Watch this short video to find out more about visiting Dundee and Angus:

The 2017 Conference and AGM was held in Newcastle on the weekend of 11-13 August, and was a fantastic event.
The weekend consisted of:
- Interesting talks from leading Healthcare Professionals on a variety of relevant paediatric & adult topics with the opportunity to join in Q&A sessions, workshops and forums.
- Fantastic opportunities to network with others who live with OI and share experiences.
- Gala Awards Ceremony and formal Dinner on the Saturday night with Kids Talent Show
- Fun and educational organised activities for children at our professionally staffed Kids Club (0 to 10 years) and Cool Bones (11 to 15 years) that run alongside the main conference.
BBS Annual AGM Conference in Reading was a huge success attended by 133 delegates and viewed online by 200 people through our live streaming YouTube Channel.
As ever BBS had an impressive list of Healthcare speakers (see link here for full details). We also ran Cool Bones Club with lots of chocolate fun. The youngsters were also treated to a talk from actor and comedian Jack Binstead and met with former Paralympians Paul Noble, MBE and Ms Wilma Lawrie who presented their winning medals for the kids.
Throughout the weekend BBS staff were busy in the Social Media Corner capturing people’s views and comments about OI and how they felt about our fantastic charity.
We were also consulting with all attendees on our planned Kids Club Hospital Packs which will be going into hospitals in the coming months; and discussing breakthrough news on big Research programmes ongoing and due to begin.
Our Gala Awards ceremony saw fantastic individuals being celebrated and rewarded for their efforts in the past and everybody had a great time at the event in Reading, England.
