Looking after your health

It’s no secret that both nutrition and sleep play a fundamental role in our health.  Diet and nutrition can influence the quality of your sleep, and certain foods and drinks can make it easier or harder to get the sleep that you need. At the same time, getting enough sleep is associated with maintaining a healthier body weight.

Individuals with OI can become overweight due to their reduced height and physical inactivity. In turn, the reduced muscle mass and strength, due to limited motor skills, correlate with an increased risk of fractures and daily fatigue.  This can then have a significant impact on quality of life and psychosocial implications. Therefore it is important to stay active.

You can read member’s stories about their experiences of sports and how they stay active in our blog section.

If you are struggling with mobility and feel you need support with getting the right Wheelchair please see our
